Homemade Hand Sanitizer

With concerns of COVID-19 rising it seems the less available are some of our basic health and cleaning products, hand sanitizer being one of them. If you are like me you have not been able to find, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, or toilet paper anywhere! I want to be able to keep my family safe and reduce the risk of spreading germs, but what about when I am not around soap and water, then what!?

Well I will tell you what, I decided to make my own hand sanitizer and it was actually very easy! Of course the best thing you can do to prevent the spread of germs is to wash your hands with soap and water, but this is a good alternative! This recipe will kill 99.9% of germs in 60 seconds.

What you’ll need:

  • 3/4 cup of rubbing alcohol (99 percent)

  • 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel

  • 10 drops of lavender or lemon oil (I used both and added a few more drops of lavender oil to help with the smell)

Directions:

  • Pour all ingredients into a bowl, ideally one with a pouring spout like a glass measuring container.

  • Mix with a spoon and then beat with a whisk to turn the sanitizer into a gel.

  • Pour the ingredients into an empty bottle for easy use
