Who Am I and Why I Can Help
I understand what it is like to feel anxious all the time and feel out of control when this happens. My name is Jessie Jenson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). For years I have worked with clients struggling with anxiety. Often times when my clients are first coming to me it is when their anxiety has gotten out of control. I am able to teach my clients the skills they need to manage their anxiety in a healthy way. What I have learned is there is not a "one size fits all" model for treatment. I use a multidisciplinary approach to treating anxiety. Meaning, I use techniques from multiple evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). When the skills from CBT are not successful on a particular day, for whatever reason, the client has numerous other techniques that can be equally effective in managing their anxiety. After our treatment together my clients have a full "toolbox" for successfully treating their anxiety in different situations.
At times, I also struggle with anxiety in my personal life. I am a mom of two toddlers, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a business owner, and author. There is a lot going on, all the time and my anxiety used to really get in the way of my life. Not anymore! I use all the techniques I teach to my clients and can now manage my anxiety without it disrupting my life!
